Every year at my church, Terrell First, we have what we normally call a “July Explosion”. It is basically an opportunity for us to unload the massive amounts of products and food we get in for our “Adopt-A-Block” ministries. When I say massive amounts of product and food, I mean “semi-load” amounts of products and food. (I must be quotation mad this morning!) Long story short, we are in the middle of a finishing our new Outreach facility and it basically kept us from having this whole thing go down in July…thus it became, this year, August Outreach.

I think it was a complete success. I don’t know exactly how many people came, but it had to be at least a 1000 or so. I love my church and it’s heart to give to the community. Our church is primarily an outreach church. I work in the youth department, and can honestly say that probably 80% of our youth group doesn’t have parents that attend church at all. It’s a challenging dynamic. However, I am reminded of the courage it takes to constantly retain teenagers that have no parental figure as an example in their home.

The fields are white and ready…but are we ready sometimes for the field. Each field is different and unique. Lord continue to adjust, change, and humble me into the specific need of each field I come across.
