Testimony

Devotion - Acts 4:23 KJV
"And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them."
Peter and John are let go and firmly charged not to say a word. They told them, to their face, that not proclaiming the power and authority of Jesus was going to be a problem…but the crowd praising God was too much for the religious elite. They had to let them go. Peter and John are released and immediately they go back to “their own company”. The New Living Translation says they went back to the “other believers”. The New King James says they went back to their “own companions”. The Message Bible records that they went back to “their friends”. All of this point to the fact that those who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior have inherited the same promise as we have and are given the same gift of grace and revelation…that Jesus is the Christ…that He is the Lord and Savior of the world.
Here is what is so great…
Peter and John go back and they tell their story…their testimony. They tell how God used them to touch a man so that after 40 years of never being able to walk, he can now dance! They tell how God used that opportunity to gather a crowd around so that they might also receive and accept Jesus as Lord. They tell how that their time in jail was a moment of destiny so that they could witness the Gospel of Jesus to the most influential leaders of their time. They testified how that these same leaders who crucified Christ has now let them go unharmed. The entire story is one miracle after another…their story is a testimony of adventure, danger, and true love…to reach out to the perishing and those in the darkness…and bring hope and light.
